Thank you very much for reaching out to me, Bruce. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and helpfulness. I look forward to our drive, visit, and field day. PNW DX Convention.
Hi all, This is a email I received for "The Pacific Northwest DX Convention". Sounds interesting. Ed Bishop AE7QD -------- Forwarded Message --------
The Pacific Northwest DX Convention is coming August 5-7, 2022 to Spokane Washington. This is the largest DX and Contesting Convention in the Northwest and this year it is sponsored by the Spokane DX Association. The conference includes great speakers and opportunity to renew and make new friends who share your love of DXing and contesting. The convention is built around three themes: DXing, Contesting and Technology.
It looks like we are going to have a great crowd. You need to register by the end of June to sign up for the Saturday Banquet and Sunday Brunch.
Attached is the convention flier. We would appreciate if you could send it out to your club user group.
Thank you,

(Recording) MBARC June Zoom Meeting
Hi all, That was a good meeting. And here is the recording. Thank you, all for showing up for the last meeting of the season. We voted to take a couple months off, the way we used to do before COVID and Zoom. So, we plan to skip a couple and resume meeting in September. Then, I think we are ready for Field Day and here is the link to the sign up sheet i showed you; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZGPdA4Sn-1PpsiC8uYxxffpMG6wR5OtoHOZNpbe1nrk/edit?usp=sharing It is visible and editable by anyone with the link. So, go ahead and put your name in. The Friday and Sunday work crews are important. Remember, there is camping, and room for RVs. And as I understand we won't have the car cover thing this time for the radio setup. So, we may need tarps and a parking arrangement to form a shelter. (Real camping) Also, Ash Eastham KJ7BXI is going to have a "For Sale" table/area, so help her with figuring prices and descriptions for what you bring if you can. Jim Blattner is also going to host some training. This is a copy of some of the info from him;
Jim Blattner KC7JB
***********************************************************************
WHAT:
WECG Comms Van training and maintenance and possibly training on the Sherriff's Communications van as well and the newly refurbished SAR trailer
WHEN:
June 22 - 26.
No, this isn't 4 days of training but the van will be utilized for Field Day (June 25-26) and will be made available at the Field Day site over this 4 day period. This is a rare (and low stress) opportunity to spend time on the van during our long and lovely June days and familiarize yourself with the operation and assets of the unit.
WHERE:
The Field Day site at: 3675 Massey Road, Everson, Wa.
*******************************************************************
SPECIFIC ITEMS:
* Operate the many radios on board; VHF, UHF, DMR, HF, 800 MHZ, GMRS, APRS.
* Operate a screwdriver HF antenna
* Send a Winlink message
* Learn about the new call out procedure
* Become qualified to check the van out from the SAR building
* Van maintenance items and clean up
* Learn SAR procedures; logging, Net operation
* Learn to connect, log in and operate SARTopo software.
* See the New/refurbished SAR Comms Trailer
* Sheriff's communications van: we hope to have this van at Field day as well. WECG is now one of the operators of this sophisticated asset. This will be a perfect time for us to check out and become familiar with the equipment on board.
* Drone operation?
************************************************************************
If you missed last nights meeting or if you want to see it again. Then here are links to the recording. You can download it in a folder or in a .zip file, your choice. They are both the same. Here are the recordings. First is the folder of combined files; https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7kxszxubrkvc7t4/AAD0rujWhKmfANf3hZZo3-50a?dl=0 Then the .zip; https://www.dropbox.com/s/mzreraqae3vjp3o/2022-06-14%2018.58.20%20MBARC%20General%20Zoom%20Meeting.zip?dl=0 Enjoy and 73s. See ya all in September. -- Ed Bishop AE7QD

Hi all, Here's my version of the invitation. The club web site calendar reminder of the meeting will be out soon also. It's the second week of the month. This is inviting you to the MBARC June 14, 2022 07:00 PM General meeting on Zoom. (see below) This is usually our yearly meeting for elections and we will continue. So, continuing with Zoom. We have the usual reports. And we will up-date you on other ACS groups in the county. We have elections and we're getting closer to "Field Day!". We had one meeting about Field Day a few weeks ago, and then it was discussed at the WECG meeting Thursday. We should have a idea of what's needed for volunteers at this meeting, with a list of things to bring, or a task list. Elections! We are going to need a new treasurer at least. And maybe we can make this a short turnover for the year. Of course if someone wants my job as president, it's available. So, if you feel like you'd like to get involved, this is a good opportunity. We may also want to ask for volunteers to help bring down some repeater equipment off of Lyman Hill, when the weather dictates.
We can also go around the Zoom and see if anybody has something they feel needs to be addressed. There was still some repeater work to do. Mainly, Constitution UHF. Nothing really new with the web site, but it is filling up. I hope to try to answer more help questions from new hams, and anyone else. Testing. And we still need someone to be the lead organizer. The usual "For Sale" virtual table. Get anything you have, ready to show. I usually start this early in the meeting so there's time to think. We plan to have a Field Day "Fore Sale" table, so get your stuff together. I'll also ask if anyone has something they need. Again, I think most of the meeting will be a chance to see everybody again, and get caught up on any news. Ed Bishop AE7QD is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

I built a cable some time ago that interfaces this radio to a SignaLink and it worked fine with Fldigi. I assume it’ll work the same when connected to the Nexus RJ45 jack with the right Nexus jumpers. I’ll throw in the cable I made. Since it has a built-in TNC and includes the associated USB cable, it will work directly with RMS Express (for example). Just plug in the USB cable from the radio to the PC, put the radio in TNC mode and point RMS Express to the serial port. The TNC works quite well and I have used it in 9600 mode. Of course, the TNC isn’t useful for Fldigi, which is where the cable I made + Nexus comes into play. Steve

The special nature of the TH-D72A is that it has APRS and a built-in TNC for packet radio / APRS with no external hardware required. It was quite the sexy unit back in the day! While the TH-D72A CAN be made to work with a Nexus DR-X using the audio in / audio out / push-to-talk connections, but... So can ANY portable radio, a basic model which can be bought new for $100'ish (the better Japanese brands, not Baofeng, etc.) Steve N8GNJ
